Expected was a day of eating seafood and and some shopping at city square and holiday plaza but it turned out much more interesting!
Met early at 8.15am to take a bus from Kranji. As expected, there was a huge jam (due to long weekend so many pple are going m'sia) and along the way across to JB, we alighted from the bus and walked instead. Not that far la, at least it was much faster than staying on the bus and waiting for the traffic to move.
After reaching, 4 of them went to collect our rented 8-seater Toyota MPV while 4 of us went holiday plaza for mani/pedicure! I did a classic manicure at RM25 (S$11) and for info, classic pedicure is RM35 (S$15) and combo is RM55(S$24)... its half price! Sorry ah, not convenient to take photos when doing mani/pedicure.. but the place is really quite pretty and nice. Ok, i don't really like the colour i chose though, feel its too pink for me...
We went to buy DVDs (RM5 for a disc), and then set off on our 1.5 hour journey to Kukup...
Kukup
Seafood lunch~ (RM205 for 8 pax)
After the meal, we took a ferry to the kelong (RM5 per person)
Puffer fish. Not many left cos all are dying or have died. Puffer fish injures easily, especially when taken in and out of the water for so many times (to show visitors). According to Louis, they used to take the fish out, at which the puffer fish will bloat up, they will then step on it and throw it back into the water.... i think thats why they are dying la...
Seafood and kelong was followed by some coconut drinks and agar gar with assorted fillings at one of the shophouses. The rest were so in love with the agar agar that all of them, except me, bought at least a dozen each back to singapore. I thought it was not bad, particularly the durian filling one, but not that special that i wanna pack home to let people try.. i think i still prefer durian puffs/cakes.. =P.
By then it was about 5pm, so we started our drive back nearer to JB and went to The Zon, a duty-free shopping centre. There wasn't anything to buy at all cos the things there were really outdated and not nice. We tried this chocolate fountain fountain thingy which was ok, not fantastic, but cheap.
Nothing fantastic about the place, besides a nice bar which i wanna visit next time! Looks super nice and posh from outside and Cat says the drinks are cheap. Beside the bar got this buliding called de Paradise which looks like some casino/big entertainment centre, like Genting. And we are thinking of going there next time for a night's stay and explore the place.... muahaha. Can sing some KTV too.
And then it was dinner time! Went to this place called Restoran Ah Meng famous for its beehoon. It was really good but i can't exactly explain why except that the beehoon is thinner and quite different from the ones we have back in sg. Other than beehoon, we also had egg omelette, gong bao ji ding, sambal clams, stir fried potato leaves and drinks. Cost a total of only RM78 - thats like S$4 a person.
This ming ge chan ting at DNP plaza. We forced Paul, Shuhui and Mandy to go up on stage and perform a song for us.. cool! and they were good =)
Expenditure for the day:
1. Car rental + petrol + parking RM35
2. Manicure RM25
3. DVDs RM20
4. Seafood Lunch RM30
5. Kelong RM5
6. Coconut + random snacks RM5
7. Dinner RM9
8. Tea at ming ge cha ting RM3
9. Malaysian Her World magazine RM7
Total: RM139 (S$60)
A very fun and enjoyable day indeed! And we reached Singapore at like 12am. Things here are so expensive, my cab ride was $16!
