to my girls... =P

On a side note,
sorry girls if I won't be able to meet you all this weekend cos I have plans for Fri night and Sat already... though I am free on Sunday, guess we are only meeting if everyone else can make it. As you know (or a reminder if you all dunno), Ah C will be leaving next Sun morning so the last weekend(s) will have to be spent with his family/relatives/at his gatherings, so have to accomodate to his schedule (dear, see! all for u leh! hahaha)... sorry! but I am sure you all will understand =P

ignorant people

Yesterday when I went for lunch with Ah C, we met one of his friends. A very ignorant person.

He asked me what I am working as now and i said auditing, which he commented "sounds boring".

Then he asked Ah C where he is studying at in the US, so Ah C replied United States Airforce Academy, and he went like "what can you study there?", not in a curious way but the "huh?! what can you study there?" kind of tone. Of cos Ah C just replied nicely they actually have everything there (alike the regular civilian college) and he's doing aeronautical engineering. And he said it "sounds boring" again.

He doesn't even know about the existence of the USAFA or WESTPOINT and he dare comment that there is nothing to study there. He doesnt even know that USAFA has one of the leading aeronautical engineering program in the world and he dare comment that there is nothing to do there. HOW IGNORANT. Bear in mind that he's just a interning student from SMU and he dare make such comments. I wonder how INTERESTING his job is lo.

Honestly, I dun know about USAFA or Westpoint before Ah C went there to study. But not knowing and making comments like you know just makes u look more stupid than anyone else.

Some people. Why do they even exist in this world.

1.5 months have passed since Ah C returned in late May. Haven't been doing much extraordinary stuff besides the Aussie trip cos I had to work at other times (though it has been quite slack) and we meet only after work and on weekends. Yea, and the last weekend was burnt off for two wedding dinners!

The two weddings were held at Mandarin Oriental and Swissotel Raffles respectively. The food at Mandarin Oriental was good! Its kind of fusion and not the usual kind of stuff. Dinner at Swissotel was the usual fare. Let me try to recall the menu items and make a comparison...

1. Cold platter
Oriental: Battered and fried silverfish(like ikan bilis but bigger, very cripsy and yummy!), Roasted sucklin pig slices, lobster with mayo, japanese baby octopus.
Swissotel: Smoked duck, jellyfish, prawns with salad, breaded tuna roll

2. Shark fins' soup
Oriental: Visible shreds of shark's fins in clear chicken broth (in individual tonic bowls)
Swissotel: The usual corn-starchy soup with lots of 'crabmeat' and beaten egg whites and hard-to-find traces of shark's fins

3. Seafood
Oriental: Deepfried big prawns on skewers (goes really well with this honey sauce provided)
Swissotel: Stir-fried scallops with asparagus and macademia nuts (ok, this is not bad too!)

4. Chicken
Oriental: Crispy chicken (again, the special sauce provided ruled!)
Swissotel: Crispy chicken lined with seafood paste (which came with boring mayo)

5. Vegetable
Oriental: Green vege with baby abalones (prefer the type of vege used)
Swissotel: Lettuce with baby abalones (abalones are bigger here though)

6. Fish
Oriental: Individual Cod Fish steaks in teriyaki sauce
Swissotel: Steamed garoupa (i think), Hokkien style

7. Carbo
Oriental: Deep-fried mini buns with Chilli crab sauce (with crabmeat already in the sauce so we dun have to fo the peeling)
Swissotel: Lotu leaf rice

8. Dessert
Oriental: Individual plates of passionfruit mousse cake and chocolate mousse cake decorated with mango and raspberry sauce (sorry for the poor description, just imagine something you order at a dessert house like Bakerzin)
Swissotel: Mango sago with pomelo

Of cos, besides the food, Oriental has a more romantic ballroom as well... and just before the dinner started, we caught the airshow displays from the hotel entrance! (they were having rehearsal for NDP). Some pictures taken from my phone camera....

If Ah C gets into Black Knights in the future, it will be so cool!! Hee, but no pressure k!

Parachuters, but looks like some micro-organisms u see through the microscope... lol.

Several weeks back, we went to try this Jap restaurant called Tampopo at Liang Court, River Valley. The food is pretty good! But its not a place to have sushi because they are a bit overpriced. The main courses are ok though, with rice and noodle sets averaging at $15-$20.

The sashimi is not bad!

Black pork soup ramen

Some other day, we also tried the crab bee hoon soup at Don's Pie.. k, the crab is quite fresh but a bit small. So I think paying $14.80 for one bowl is not very worth it, Should be able to find cheaper ones and equally tasty ones elsewhere bah!

And I finally got to try The Patissier's cakes!! The Patissier is located at Ann Siang Road, quite near PwC Building. The cakes are heavenly, one of the bests I have tried so far, which also explains their prices, about $6 a slice (not very big slice u know)!
The best strawberry short cake I have eaten so far. The layers just go so well together.

Chocolate fudge cake (Not bad really, but I still like the fudginess of my Choc a Bloc chocolate fudge cake more =P)

Of cos, there are many other cakes to try, like the Earl Grey cake, Mango with Basil, Tiramisu and their bestseller Passionfruit Meringue!

You know, everytime I walk past the main entrance of Suntec City in the evening, I am always attracted to the aroma coming from the steamboat buffet place at the Suntec Convention Centre, which is also where the porridge buffet is served in the afternoon. Last monday, Ah C and I decided to try it! Hmm.. lacking in variety though the quality of the food not bad (in terms of freshness of the meat and vege). They also serve Indian Rojak, Popiah and other cooked dishes.
For the price of $25, I think Tian Tian Huo Guo at Tan Quee Lan street is more worth it bah! I love their wantons!

Wahaha... all updates at once. Seems like I have been eating alot leh! Not forgetting boon lay nasi lemak, chomp chomp, bedok bak chor mee, five star chicken rice (bukit timah), clementi porridge, serangoon's curry jian dao fan, Jumbo at serangoon gardens, old airport road fried kway teow.........................................

Sorry for the lack of graphical illustration as I havent been taking photographs lately.

Anyway to my girls, sorry I din join u all for mambo yesterday (if you all went). Cos Ah C really forgot to bring long pants la. U all know his pattern one, always in berms one... And anyway, I ended late at 10+ yesterday, by the time i reached home it was 11+ already. And Ning, we did won yesterday!=P

I made a $362 expenditure yesterday.... bought tickets for Fong Fei Fei's concert for my parents! Its a surprise for them.. think my mum will be very happy cos she has been wanting to watch that very much.

Yea, today is Thu and I am on AT again... and tmr... and then its weekend! yea, two wedding dinners to attend... I realised almost 1.5months have passed since Ah returned. that means he's leaving in 1 month's time, sigh, time flies when you are the happiest. I guess after he returns to the States I am gonna ba a workhalic to pass time, and maybe take up a weekend course or something. Afterall, everyone else has new priorities in their lives. I can survive, and will survive! =)
